Safeguarding Flow Chart for concerns about Volunteer 10/9/26

Concerns about abuse by member of staff, trustee, or volunteer

  1. Talk to designated Safeguarding Lead
  2. If they not available, or if s/he is the subject of concerns, then talk to the any other member of the committee.
  3. Designated Lead for Safeguarding informs the Sheffield Safeguarding Hub for advice on  0114 273 4450 within 24 hours.
  4. Designated Lead for Safeguarding will ensure safety of children/adult at risks by removing member of staff or volunteer who is the subject of the allegation from any situation involving children/adult at risk
  5. Record in detail and store on paper and/or electronically securely in locked cabinet to prevent details being changed

Possible Outcomes 

  • Child protection enquiry relating to the safety and welfare of any children who may or may not be involved
  • A police investigation into a possible offence
  • Disciplinary procedures where allegations may amount to misconduct or gross misconduct on the part of the staff
  • Poor practice
  • Advice given and organisational processes reviewed
  • Allegations not substantiated - Record securely
