Annual General Meeting (AGM) Minutes and Green Team Meeting

1. Welcome and Opening

 

The Chair – Ann Gregory opened the meeting at 1 PM and welcomed all attendees.

This is the first AGM of the Secret Garden Page Hall since we launched 1 May 2025.

Discussion of minutes from the last meeting on 26/2/26

Ann reported the group had, so far, no success in finding a volunteer to lead any gardening sessions; despite sending job description possible contacts she has had no response

The Job Description has been sent to SOAR to be advertised.

Notice has been added to the website 14/4/26 and posted on the Secret Garden Page Halls Instagram account

Emma will investigate developing our logo further as still needs to incorporate the This is Us funding.

Lucy has met with the head of Fir Vale School Danny Bullock – this was productive in terms of networking.

Lucy mentioned the Fir Vale Community HUB has a Pakistani Women’s group who would be interested in gardening – could they work with the space we have? Ann with ask KB as she may have a good contact with the HUB – email sent to KB to ask her 16/4/26

 

4. Chair’s Report and financial statement

The Chair presented a summary of the year’s activities, highlighting:

Successful funding bid and funds in our account ready to be spent. £2,485.76.

Continuing partnerships with local organisations who are developing and growing green spaces within the community – such as the Mosque and local schools/ Community HUBs

Lucy shared that the Lion Cub, named Wild Child is almost finished being painted, she is still fund raising the amount owed for the cub and must continue to raise around £800 – this is fund raising for the Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity

Ann will share the Just Giving Page again

No monies have yet been spent from the funds yet

No questions were raised.

 

 5. Plans for next steps

To buy the following – as per the details in the This is Us funding bid

1 ton of bark chips

4 bags of soil

Weed mesh and ties to provide a weed barrier

Veg – spinach, onions, radishes, large raspberry tree, potatoes.

Possibly grow boxes, edging for the garden, perhaps small wooden edging – Ann will look into this and discuss at the next meeting first to gauge other’s thoughts

Ribbons/ wooden discs for writing on and hanging from the tree

 

Need to investigate a community day perhaps in June/ July
Plans for the Mural as we have funds to spend on this I believe its £500 plus paint costs of £100 – should we extend to the whole bin store?
Ann will contact Rebekah who painted one side of the garden store area for her thoughts
Follow up the Pakistani Women’s Group who may be interested in the Garden
